William B. Schoolcraft, M.D. is the founder and medical director of the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine. He completed his medical training at the University of Kansas and finished his residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 1983 at UCLA. In 1983 he began his private practice in the field of obstetrics, gynecology, and infertility in Denver. In 1986 he continued his specialized training in infertility with Dr. David Meldrum. In 1987, he returned to Denver and founded the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine. In 1994 he expanded CCRM's services by opening a free standing surgical center which is licensed by the Colorado Health Department and accredited by the AAAHC. In 1997, a full time research department was added to CCRM headed by Dr. David K. Gardner. Dr. Schoolcraft and Dr. Gardner together have focused their research effort on the study of embryo culture conditions and specifically the culture and transfer of human blastocyts. Dr. Schoolcraft has authored many scientific articles which had documented the Center's high success rates in intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), assisted hatching of embryos, novel methods to stimulate multiple follicular growth, and blastocyst transfers. Other research interests for Dr. Schoolcraft include novel protocols for the treatment of poor responders, oocyte and embryo cryopreservation by vitrification, and the in vitro maturation of human oocytes. |
