IntegraMed® Shared Risk® Refund Program for IVF Treatment

Boost Success and Control IVF Costs with this Special IVF Treatment Plan

Overview

Thank you for your interest in the IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program. This Program is an alternative payment option for patients undergoing IVF treatment. Patients that qualify for the Program pay IntegraMed a fixed fee for up to three IVF cycles and three frozen embryo transfers in an effort to overcome infertility. If treatment is not successful, up to 100% of the program fees are refunded.

The best part is that IntegraMed defines success the same way you do – a baby.

Our success rates are high. In fact, nearly 75% of the patients who complete the program take a baby home!

The reality is that most patients will need more than one IVF cycle to be successful. Patients willing to commit to multiple IVF cycles can dramatically increase their ability to bring a baby home. The affordability of multi-cycle treatment, combined with the commitment of those who enroll has contributed to the high success rate of patients within the IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program.

The IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program maximizes your chances of success with IVF through a 6-cycle treatment package. Participation in this program minimizes your financial risk by fixing the cost of treatment and preserves your financial resources by providing a significant refund should treatment be unsuccessful.

The Details

If money were no object, committing to a multi-cycle IVF treatment plan would be a much easier decision. Unfortunately, the high cost of multiple IVF attempts and the reality that success is not guaranteed prevents most people from maximizing their chances of success with IVF. The IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program was designed to address this dilemma.

Enrollees may attempt up to 3 IVF cycles and 3 Frozen Embryo Transfers (FETs) at a participating fertility center for a fixed, discounted fee. If you are successful on the first attempt, you will have paid more with the program than the traditional fee-for-service method. If you are successful after completing 3 IVF cycles and 3 FETs, you will have paid much less with this program than the traditional fee-for-service method. In the event that treatment is unsuccessful or treatment is concluded prior to completion of the program, you will receive a significant refund of program fees – 70% for IVF treatment plans and 100% for IVF treatment plans including donor eggs.

NEW! 100% refund offered to Egg Donor Recipients!
What is the cost of the Program?

The cost of the IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program varies depending on the treatment type and fertility center. For Egg Donor Recipients, the cost of the program is equal to 2 IVF cycles. For patients not participating in an Egg Donor Recipient treatment plan, the cost of the program is dependant on the woman’s age. For women under 35, the Program fee is slightly higher than the cost of two cycles. For example, if an IVF cycle costs $8,000 at a participating fertility center, then the IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program fee would be about $18,000. The fee is somewhat higher for women between the ages of 35 and 37. Call us at 1-866-YOUR-IVF (1-866-968-7483) for a free, no obligation fee quote.

Where is this Program available?

The IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program is available exclusively through our elite network of participating fertility centers. Since IntegraMed incurs the financial risk for patient refunds, we are motivated to ensure that the participating physicians are among the highest quality nationally. Physicians accepted into our elite network must pass a rigorous review process and be approved for participation by IntegraMed's Counsel of Physicians and Scientists. In addition, we conduct extensive, on-going quality review on all participating physicians and laboratories.

Who qualifies for the Program?

Once IVF is recommended by one of our participating physicians, IntegraMed's clinical staff will review the following information to determine if a patient is an appropriate candidate for our Shared Risk Refund Program:

  • Women's Age - ability to complete all three IVF cycles prior to the woman's 38th birthday (unless donor eggs are being used)
  • Day 3 Hormone Tests - FSH and E2 within normal limits
  • Semen Analysis
  • Evaluation of Fallopian Tubes and Uterine Cavity
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Need for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis Testing (PGD)
  • Medical history, including highest recorded FSH, prior IUI and IVF cycles and pregnancy loss history (miscarriage)

Acceptance into this Program is at the sole and subjective discretion of IntegraMed America. Please remember that IntegraMed is making a determination about your participation in a financial program, not a clinical determination of your chances of success with IVF. There is no cost or obligation to find out if you qualify. 82% of patients who applied in 2006 were accepted into the IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program.

FAQs -- Frequently Asked Questions
Will my treatment be different if I enroll in the IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program?

No! IntegraMed does not get involved in your treatment plan. In most cases your treatment plan is already in place by the time your application is reviewed by IntegraMed. Your physician may not even be aware of your participation in the Program. The practice is paid for each cycle completed, regardless of outcome. Practices offer this Program as a service to their patients, but are indifferent as to whether you participate.

What services are included in the Program fee?

The Program fee covers office visits, blood tests, ultrasounds, egg retrieval, fertilization, one fresh embryo transfer and one frozen embryo transfer as part of each IVF cycle. Pre-IVF office visits, diagnostic tests, medications and anesthesia are generally not included. Some patients may require or opt for additional services which are also not included in the cost of the Program such as: assisted hatching, blastocyst culture, cryopreservation of excess embryos, non-IVF related surgeries and the cost associated with complications. While you may participate in the Program if using donor eggs or donor sperm, the cost of obtaining the eggs or sperm is not included.

What if my doctor recommends ICSI?

Patients doing IVF with ICSI may participate at slightly higher fees.

Why are medications excluded from the Program?

Your physician will customize your drug protocol based on your individual needs. As a result, the cost of obtaining these fertility drugs will vary for each patient, typically costing between $2000 and $4000. Because the costs can vary greatly, it is not possible to include these costs in the Program fee.

Is financing available?

Yes! We offer convenient, low interest financing for all types of treatment, including the IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program. Interest rates are as low as 1.99% APR. There is no cost to apply and no prepayment penalties if you pay off the loan early. Click here to learn more about our loan program or to apply on line.

What if I have insurance coverage for infertility treatment?

The IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program was initially developed for people who do not have insurance coverage for IVF. We now offer programs at several fertility centers which exclude services that may be covered by your insurance. Many patients with limited insurance coverage use their benefits to cover medications and other services not covered by the Program. We suggest you fully explore your insurance benefits prior to enrolling in the IntegraMed Shared Risk Refund Program.

Are we obligated to complete all six attempts?

No! You may elect to drop out of the Program between cycles for any reason. Similarly, IntegraMed reserves the right to remove you from the Program between cycles for any reason. Regardless of who terminates the agreement, you are entitled to the specified (70% or 100%) refund.
